The challenge can sometimes be in finding them.

The links below include scholarships along with some search tools, however, also look at specific places to see if they offer scholarships.  This might include your parent/guardian's place of work, the bank or credit union where you have an account, and places where you shop; CVS, Wendy's, Home Depot....  Also, the public library has scholarship books to check out.

DETROIT MERCY TITAN EDGE

UDM has an exciting new scholarship/financial aid opportunity to officially bring students to $0 for tuition for all 4 years of undergrad! It is called the TITAN EDGE.

To be eligible for Titan Edge, incoming students must:

  • Have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Be eligible for the maximum Federal Pell Grant
  • Be eligible for the full Michigan Achievement Scholarship
  • Be eligible for the full Michigan Tuition Grant
  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Be enrolled full-time (12-18 credit hours) in an undergraduate program

Greater Oakland Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association

The Greater Oakland Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association is offering 2, $2,000 scholarships this year. Information for qualifying for these scholarships can be found at www.abwa-greateroakland.org

The deadline for applications including official transcripts and three current letters of reference is May 15th of each year

MICHIGAN ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Students who graduate from high school in Michigan with a diploma or certificate of completion or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after, may be eligible for need based financial aid from the State of Michigan: 

  • Up to $2,000 if they attend an eligible career training provider in Michigan, per year, up to two years
  • Up to $2,750 if they attend a Michigan community college, per year, up to three years
  • Up to $5,500 if they attend a Michigan public university, per year, up to five years
  • Up to $4,000 if they attend a Michigan private college or university, per year, up to five years

Michigan Youth Foundation

METRO DETROIT YOUTH DAY

Purpose:  To recognize students in the Detroit Metropolitan area who have maintained good standing academically and who have overcome personal challenges to graduate from high school and go on to an institution of higher learning.  

Student Selection Criteria:  

  • High school students who will be graduating from a public, parochial, private or charter high school in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
  • Students who have been accepted into a four year university or college or a two year community college program and have provided a letter of acceptance for enrollment. 
  • Students who have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
  • Students who live in the greater Metropolitan Detroit area and surrounding communities.
  • Students who have been recommended by their school counselor, principal, teacher, minister or community leader.

Society of Women Engineers

Society of Women Engineers Detroit Professional Section (SWE-D)

Our 2024 high school scholarship and award applications are now live! The deadline to apply is May 3, 2024. 

College Scholarships Application Requirements:

  • Must reside in SWE Detroit’s section area
  • Must be in your senior year of high school OR current community college student
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Must pursue an engineering degree at a university or college with an ABET accredited engineering/computer science program OR community college with the intention of transferring to a 4-year engineering degree 
  • Must be a woman or other underrepresented gender in engineering and technology
  • Must submit all required documents within this Google form

STUDENT INSIGHTS

The 2024 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering over $14,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school.  

All Michigan seniors who apply for the Student-View Scholarship will also be automatically entered into the drawing for the new $500 Michigan Senior Scholarship.

The application process is simple and requires only 15-20 minutes.

STUDY.COM SCHOLARSHIP

Study.com wants to help students interested in getting into real estate by bearing some of the financial burden of their education. To support them, we’re offering a $1,000 scholarship for Future Real Estate Professionals to give much needed aid during their college years to those interested in becoming:

  • Real estate sales agents
  • Real estate brokers
  • Real estate appraisers
  • Real estate property managers
  • Real estate counselors

Thomas Richards Charity

Two Scholarships available:

1.  Ron Harp Award: 
Scholarship for a RHS graduating senior with a desire to attend post-secondary education.  To qualify for the scholarship, you must have overcome or are currently, in a unique or difficult situation.  The scholarship amount is $1,000 and if you feel you meet the criteria, please make an appointment with your counselor.

The deadline to be recommended by your counselor is May 1st.

2.  Ben Kable Life and Legacy Award for an RHS graduating Senior. 
This award was established by the friends and family, the Thomas Richards Charity, and Nikolic Industries to help support a Rochester High School graduate furthering their education in the sciences to be used for tuition and/or housing.  One recipient will be selected. This is a non-renewable, one time scholarship award of $1,000.

Complete the this application and submit by April 4th 2024. Applications will be read by the family and friends of Ben Kable.
