Tardy & Attendance Procedures
Tardy
Students who arrive late to school must report directly to the attendance office to sign in. Students are expected to be in class to begin work when the bell tone sounds at 7:30 a.m.
Attendance
Please remember to call us if your child is going to be absent. We need the information the day of the absence. To report an absence, call (248) 726-5410.
This is a 24-hour answering machine. The following information must be left on the answering machine.
- Student's first and last name (spelled out)
- Parent name, if different from student's last name
- Day and date of absence
- Reason for absence
- Phone Number
If your student is arriving late, or needs an early dismissal, you should call the attendance number at (248) 726-5430. If you are requesting homework, please call the regular school number at (248) 726-5400.
All absence calls are for one day only unless you specify otherwise. We suggest that you call as early as possible. Many telephone calls come in between 7:00 and 7:45 a.m.
We do not accept calls or notes from students. Students who are "excused absent" should see each teacher upon returning to receive missed assignments. It is the student's responsibility make up the work.
You can also put in your students absence through ParentVue. Please see the instructions in the next tab.
Partial Absences: When students are leaving the building for any reason during the school day, they must properly sign out in the Attendance Office to receive an excused absence.
Illnesses: Read the attached information sheet, "When to Keep a Child Home from School" to assist in deciding whether an illness warrants staying home.

COVID-19 Protocols
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Emergency Order Under MCL 333.2253 requires school districts to report school associated cases of COVID-19 within 24 hours after being notified by the local health department. A school associated case includes a case of probable or confirmed COVID-19 among students, teachers, staff members, coaches, volunteers, or any other person who was present on school property or at a school function that may result in the transmission or contraction of COVID-19 during an infectious period. Having cases present in school buildings does not indicate that the person's exposure occurred at school. Click here for more information.
Daily Health Screening
The student daily health screening is required to be completed daily for students on their in-person learning day. Please complete this prior to entering any Rochester Community Schools bus or building.
*If you have not accepted the Oakland County Health Screening Agreement, you will be prompted to view and accept the form. Do not print or fill out the form. We have your information on file and simply clicking 'I accept' completes your submission. This is a one-time acknowledgement.
